Meet Glenn Batey

Located in Southern King Island, Glenn Batey is a third generation King Island farmer. Raising Angus cattle, Glenn is passionate about farming the land once farmed by his grandfather.

An early adopter of sustainable and regeneration farming Glenn has put into practice, AI technology, pasture renovation, fencing boundaries to protect the land and cattle and many other sustainable practices that aim to protect the island and the livestock.

“This farm is very special to me – it belonged to my grandfather and it’s important to keep it in the family.” Glenn Batey

“The big news for us is that we’re undergoing a complete pasture renovation – by the end of 2020, we’ll have all new various species of grass. We’re always looking for genetic gains.” Glenn Batey

The livestock producers are a critical partner in the King Island Beef brand. In line with the laws of Tasmania, the use of added hormones (also known as HGPs) and genetically modified organisms (GMOs) is strictly prohibited on King Island, so consumers around the world should feel confident when they enjoy King Island Beef it is as nature intended – all natural.

But the farmers for King Island Beef go one further – they are JBS Australia Farm Assured, which means they have successfully passed a 3rd party audit to further ensure a consistent quality of product and the highest standards of animal welfare are maintained.
