Meet James Hill the farmer behind your purchase.

The Hills have been farming in central King Island for three generations, with the fourth being raised on the island.

Raising Angus and Hereford cattle the Hills give credit to the island’s mild climate and rain fall. The Hills are passionate about animal welfare and were early adopters of providing shelter for their cattle through planting trees along fence lines to provide protection against the sun and rain for their cattle.

“The Islands mild climate, and high rainfall really means I wouldn’t be a farmer anywhere else. The farm has been in the family for generations.” James Hill

The livestock producers are a critical partner in the King Island Beef brand. In line with the laws of Tasmania, the use of added hormones (also known as HGPs) and genetically modified organisms (GMOs) is strictly prohibited on King Island, so consumers around the world should feel confident when they enjoy King Island Beef it is as nature intended – all natural.

But the farmers for King Island Beef go one further – they are JBS Australia Farm Assured, which means they have successfully passed a 3rd party audit to further ensure a consistent quality of product and the highest standards of animal welfare are maintained.
