Meet Peter James Bowling the farmer behind your purchase.
Located in Southern King Island on family farm ‘Surprise Bay’, Peter raises mainly Mary grey and Angus cattle on his property.
Peter has ensured that 15% of his farm is natural vegetation and wetlands, a lot of this area is exclusion fenced, and the waterways are all fenced off. In addition, resources have been allocated to proper on farm drainage and water recirculation and grass improvement.
“The cattle go down for a feed of kelp every day on the coastline, we have 1300 kilometres of coastline. I am proud to be a producer on King island, the best place on earth. We’ve had this farm in our family for generations and I’m proud to be a producer on the best pastures in the world.” Peter James Bowling
The livestock producers are a critical partner in the King Island Beef brand. In line with the laws of Tasmania, the use of added hormones (also known as HGPs) and genetically modified organisms (GMOs) is strictly prohibited on King Island, so consumers around the world should feel confident when they enjoy King Island Beef it is as nature intended – all natural.
But the farmers for King Island Beef go one further – they are JBS Australia Farm Assured, which means they have successfully passed a 3rd party audit to further ensure a consistent quality of product and the highest standards of animal welfare are maintained.
