Stefan Mauric

Meet Stefan Mauric the farmer behind your purchase.

Located in central King Island Stefan Mauric farms family property ‘Whispering Gums’. Farming mostly Angus with a few Hereford cattle Stefan is passionate about carrying on family traditions, and creating new traditions by adopting on farm sustainable practices.

“It’s fantastic farming on King Island. I find it very satisfying that our cattle are so well looked after and are the best on the planet. I was born on the island, and carrying on the family farming tradition started by my Dad is embedded in me. Dad always did the right thing and I want to carry on his legacy” Stefan Mauric

“I developed paddocks putting in a crop of a rye grass, my drains and waterways are protected. Every tree when I first got the farm was not fenced, and I fenced them off (double). I have a dam that I have worked on, and now native platypus breed and burrow in there which is fantastic. As a result, I am careful with fertiliser around the native platypus – national geographic netted them and tested mine and they think King Island could be the saviour of the species from disease that exists on mainland Tasmania. I put 800 trees and 600 trees into two belts (1km) and it protects from the wind (the warmth helps the grass grow better).” Stefan Mauric

The livestock producers are a critical partner in the King Island Beef brand. In line with the laws of Tasmania, the use of added hormones (also known as HGPs) and genetically modified organisms (GMOs) is strictly prohibited on King Island, so consumers around the world should feel confident when they enjoy King Island Beef it is as nature intended – all natural.

But the farmers for King Island Beef go one further – they are JBS Australia Farm Assured, which means they have successfully passed a 3rd party audit to further ensure a consistent quality of product and the highest standards of animal welfare are maintained.
